DOCUMENTARY SHOT IN KARLSRUHE & SOUTH AMERICA PREMIERING AT KINEMATHEK

Aune Hartmann, eine deutsche Umweltschützerin aus Karlsruhe, wird brutal ermordet, als sie in Südamerika unterwegs ist, um Menschen in indigenen Gemeinden zu helfen. Doch aufgrund der Inkompetenz und Korruption der Strafverfolgungsbehörden in Peru und Bolivien bleibt ihr Mörder auf freiem Fuß. Familie und Freunde wollen Gerechtigkeit, fühlen sich aber hilflos gegenüber den kulturellen Unterschieden. Wir zeigen den Film im Original mit englischen Untertiteln!

Zu den Vorstellungen werden die Filmemacher und die Schauspielerin, die Aune Hartmann spielt, zu Gast sein.

The documentary , “The Gringa & the Musician” debuts in Karlsruhe (May 16th  & 18th at Kinemathek). Shot during a four year period, the film was recorded in Karlsruhe and, Heidelberg (Germany), in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.www.thegringamovie.com http://www.thegringamovie.com/

The documentary portrays the life of Aune Hartmann, a former Karlsruhe’s council member, attorney, ecologist and  a former Querfunk radio personality.  Hartmann disappeared in South America where she was working on projects to help local people.

“This movie chronicles Aune’s social work but it is also a cry for justice for an unsolved crime that should never have happened” said Roberto Pazos, the Peruvian director who knew Aune.

The film has screened in five film festivals in Peru and New York City where audience members praised the efforts of the filmmakers to expose the incompetence and corruption of the Latin American police handling the case.

Local Karlsruhe residents who participated in the documentary as well as crew ( Director Roberto Pazos, Producer Steve Hunsicker and Marie-Lare Beck, actress) will all be present to introduce the documentary and will host Q&A after the screenings.  Tickets are on sale now at https://kinemathek-karlsruhe.de/film/the-gringa-the-musician/ https://kinemathek-karlsruhe.de/film/the-gringa-the-musician/.
